Chemical Engineering: Chemical Engineering is the design and maintenance of chemical plants and the development of chemical processes for converting raw materials or chemicals into valuable forms including those used to remove chemicals from waste materials, to enable large-scale manufacture. It combines knowledge of Chemistry and Engineering for the production of chemicals and related by-products.

Students who are interested in this branch of engineering cover areas from biotechnology and nanotechnology to mineral processing. It covers various fields of chemical technology in mineral-based industries, petrochemical plants, pharmaceuticals, synthetic fibers, petroleum refining plants etc. Chemical engineers design and operate chemical plants and improve methods of production.

Entry Level or Eligibility Criteria for Chemical Engineering

Under Graduate Level or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering

Students who want to do B. Tech in Chemical Engineering must be passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry along with a score obtained in national/state level entrance test. National Level Engineering Entrance Examination like the IIT JEE score is valid in top engineering colleges in India. Some universities may conduct their own entrance exams such as VITEEE conducted by VIT University.

Post Graduate Level

Students who want to study Post Graduation in Chemical Engineering must have an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering with at least 60% marks and have cleared the GATE entrance test.
